Mrs. Verna Carter Swindler, 211 W> College Street, Crawfordsville, died Saturday morning at Culver Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. She was 63. Born at Willismsburg, KY May 14, 1886, Mrs. Swindler was the daughter of Joseph E, Carter and Letitia Berry Carter. When 16 years of age, she went with her parents to New Orleans LZ to live. Her marriage to Albert Swindler of Crawfordsville, took place March 14, 1939 at St. Louis, MO. Since her marriage, she has resided at Crawfordsville, She was very active during her residence here in the work of the First Christian Church o f which she was a member. Survivors include the husband; a brother, Lewis Carter, of New Orleans and 4 sisters, Mrs. Ione Allain, Mrs. Marcus Stinson and Mrs. William G. Zimmerman, all of New Orleans, and Mrs. J.E. Boulton of Macedonia, Ohio. Two sisters and one brother preceded Mrs. Swindler in death. Friends may call at the Bright Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning in charge of Rev. Paul E. Million, pastor of the First Christian Church. Burial in Indian Creek Cemetery.
